The Real Beauty Series. I have been producing digital portraits that combine voyeurism and unconscious performance. The themes involved include self-image and ideal beauty. My subjects are real people models participating in a photo shoot at a local photography studio. On their quest for perfection I catch them at that moment when they are transformed from actual subject to object. That moment is the place in time when the subject actually zones out and becomes a sculptural or painterly piece of human art. The subjects are caught in that space between reality and the fantasy world of ideal beauty. The camera actually captures this moment during a break in the action of the photo shoot. The subject objectification occurs as a result of being physically manipulated by the agent of change.
